A promotion was saved in CounterPoint, but the sale price was missing in Shopify. I traced the integration and built read-only SQL diagnostics.

Projects in this story

My part

Investigation, vendor escalation and custom read-only SQL diagnostics.

System path
  1. Promotion

    Check source rules and eligibility.

  2. Integration work

Inspect work generated for the connector.

  3. Item state

Separate processing, errors and unfamiliar states.

  4. Storefront

    Verify the customer-facing price separately.

The price was missing

The promotional price was configured in CounterPoint. Shopify was not showing the expected price. I investigated the integration and escalated programming issues to the vendor.

Waiting is not the same as failing

I checked promotion eligibility, the work records generated for the connector, and the state of individual items. A missing work group, an item still processing and an item reporting an error need different next steps.

I built SQL diagnostics for promotion and item synchronization so those differences could be inspected. They retain the connector’s own status descriptions and flag unfamiliar states for review.

Check the records without changing them

The diagnostics inspect existing records without changing business data or triggering another synchronization. Repairs remain a separate step.

The diagnostics were installed and checked against representative live cases. Checking the price actually shown in Shopify remains a separate step.

Scope

Representative diagnostic checks do not cover every edge case.
