I like figuring out how things work.
I have worked with computers for most of my life, and with the people, businesses and organizations that depend on them.
Today I manage operations and business systems in a seasonal business and lead an industry association. I still work directly with the software, reporting and equipment those jobs depend on.
01 / The through-line
How I got here.
An early start with computers.
Computer-shop troubleshooting, independent web work and print production were part of my background before my current operating roles.
Retail and operating responsibility.
Retail and sales work led into responsibilities for purchasing, stock and staff. I came to know the systems through the work people needed to do with them.
Operations and systems today.
I now implement business systems, build internal tools and use reporting to make operating decisions. My association work also includes board administration, financial reporting and member services.
02 / Current practice
Design and communication are part of the work.
Print and design are still hands-on parts of my work. I lay out catalogues, prepare production artwork and work through printing and finishing alongside my operations and systems responsibilities.
I also produce recurring emails and configure signup-based follow-ups for different customer programmes.
AI is part of how I work now.
AI has become part of how I research a problem, build software and make sense of unfamiliar source material. I use chat tools to plan and shape instructions, then give agents work to carry through. I read what comes back, check the evidence and redirect the work when it misses the point.
I keep project decisions and instructions in files so later sessions can use them. I’m still learning where these tools help and where they need closer direction.

04 / Beyond the desk
Away from work.
Saskatchewan is home. I also spent a significant stretch of time in Toronto.
Away from work, I enjoy volleyball, time with friends and a good second-hand find.
