Your display preferences

The site follows your device’s appearance, contrast and motion settings, and your browser’s default font size, by default. If you choose another setting and select Apply preferences, the site saves that choice in a first-party cookie for up to one year. These cookies remember settings; they do not identify you for advertising or track you across websites.

The cookies are sent back to this site so each page can use your choice as it loads. Select System and apply it to clear a saved choice, or clear this site’s cookies in your browser. Display settings also work without JavaScript.

Web requests and hosting

Loading a page sends technical request data, including your IP address, to the server. The hosting service may keep access or error logs to operate and protect the site. These are separate from visitor analytics.

Email and other websites

Contact links can carry a conversation topic, the page you came from and a reference to published work. The Contact page uses those values to suggest an email starting point. Do not put personal details or a message in the page address; page addresses may appear in browser history and hosting logs.

Email links open your email application. If you send a message, your address and message pass through our email services; I use them to respond and continue the conversation. The website itself does not store contact submissions.

Following a link to GitHub or another website takes you to a separate service with its own privacy practices. This site does not embed their tracking tools.

Questions and changes

Contact me about this page or information you have sent me by email. This notice will be reviewed when the site’s features or data handling change, including any addition of forms, analytics or embedded services.
